Codes and Conventionss...

Codes and conventions are ways in which we identify specific genres and narratives. Since my movie is a romantic movies i will be talking about the codes and conventions of a romantic movie. Most romantic movies have the same narrative. They begin by introducing the male and female characters who are always opposites. Then the two meet in the middle. They are then faced with a problem that prevents them from being with eachother. And they always end with a happy ending.

I decided that I didnt want to follow that stereotype of all romance ending with a happy ending, so thats why I wanted my movie to not have the stereotypical happy ending. I got this from asking my target audience which is females over the age of 16 if they prefer their romantic movie to have a happy ending. The majority said that they did prefer a romantic movie to have a happy ending.

Recently there haven't been that much romantic movies being made, the new most popular genre of movie is romantic comedy. I think this because everyone enjoys a comdey movie and most female enjoy romance by having this cross of genre it means that the target audience for the movie is larger.

Photos

These are some of the images that i was going to use for my movie poster.

In the end i decided not to use any of the images, I think that the first image doesn't advertise the movie well because although it advertises the man character it doesn' give the adudience and glimpse of what the movie may be about. And the 3rd followed the typical codes and conventions of romantic movie poster by having the couple in it but I decided I wanted to only have the girl in the poster as the movie is based upon her character.
